  1. Today 4/5/24, there was no soup despite the schedule linked above saying there should be. Where can we get up to date information on whether soup is actually served?

    1. Our sincerest apologies, there is no Faculty Soup during breaks. The Statler, however, has soup in their restaurant which is what was listed on the schedule on the website. The website will be updated.

  2. I enjoy the serene setting of the faculty lounge for Soup at the Statler, a perfect spot for quiet conversations. However, today’s experience was different; a large faculty meeting with 12-13 people made it too loud for comfortable conversations. Knowing about such large and potentially noisy gatherings in advance would be beneficial for future planning.

  3. I am really disappointed that in these days when we should be embracing Inclusion, this soup option for faculty only, does not follow the University’s promoted culture. I have never seen the Regent Lounge full. The fact that staff are now denied this opportunity to have this healthy and fairly priced option for lunch is the opposite of inclusion and not in tune with the culture we are trying to promote here at Cornell. I would like to understand why this decision was made? And why staff are suddenly exempt from this benefit.

    1. Thank you for reaching out to share your concerns regarding the Faculty Soup at the Statler. Your feedback is appreciated.

While we understand your comment regarding promoting a culture of inclusion, it’s important to clarify that the current Faculty Soup, sponsored by the Office of the Dean of Faculty, serves a distinct purpose. The Office of the Dean of Faculty subsidizes the Faculty Soup program to ensure accessibility exclusively for faculty members. It was never intended for staff or students to attend; however, staff and students are still welcome as guests of the faculty.

We realized the necessity for new signage to clearly outline attendance, ticket, and pricing policies.

  4. It is a shame that this community-building opton is no longer available to Staff workers at Cornell. I have not observed an excessive amount of Soup Club attendance during lunch times this past semester — is there a reason for this change?

      1. Thank you – a full calendar month has now passed – is there an update on this matter? ~Joel Cisne ’04, Statler Hotel

      2. Thank you for reaching out to share your concerns regarding the Faculty Soup at the Statler. Your feedback is valued, and I want to assure you that your comments were promptly posted on the Dean of Faculty website for public review.

  5. Just 3 vegan soups all semester in Spring 2024? You could do a vegan chili, potato/kale soup with or without plant-based sausage, curried cauliflower with peas (which could use all frozen vegetables) , Moosewood’s West African groundnut stew, minestrone, a vegan version of hot and sour soup, corn chowder or cream of celery using a plant-based milk, or a brothy cabbage and tomato soup. I like all three of the vegan offerings you have – but a menu rotation of three is very limited.

  6. Could you please post an updated allergen list? The current allergen list is from 2022, and there are soups on the menu that are not on the allergen list.

  7. Those of us who are vegan feel we are getting much less for our money this year. You are serving tomato soup, twice a week, despite the fact it has very little substance or flavor and the other vegan soups are not the most flavorful. Please try to give us more variety by providing more vegan versions of the regular soups.
