This is quick guide to the “Senate” portion of the University Faculty website.
- The Senate meets 3:30-5:00, usually on the second Wednesday of the month. This year’s schedule is here. Please sign in at each meeting. The sign-up sheets are used to determine the presence of a quorum. Official alternates can vote if the elected senator is not present. Any member of the University Faculty can attend and speak a Senate meeting.
- The process by which the agenda is set is detailed here. Your input is welcome. Before each meeting you will receive a timely email reminder from the DoF office that will point you to the final agenda and any associated documents. It always helps if you study the issues before they reach the floor of the Senate.
- We follow Roberts rules and other procedures.
- It is very important to keep your unit informed about what is going on in the Senate. To help you with this, we provide a short synopsis after each Senate meeting that you can edit as you see fit and pass along to your colleagues.
