On Campus
Committee Members from the Student Assembly (SA), the Graduate and Professional Student Assembly (GPSA), and the Employee Assembly (EA) are responsible for the back and forth communication between the Committee and their respective constituencies. Calendar-Issue presentations have been made to the SA (Sept 29), the GPSA (Nov 7), and the EA (Nov 2).
The Committee also has representatives from Gannett Health Services, the Commencement office, the Dean of Students Office, and the Office of the Registrar.
During November and December, all members of the community were invited to post comments on specific calendar issues.
To make sure that other viewpoints feed into the process we have distributed the following “outreach email” to various campus units:
From the standpoint of your office and its responsibilities, the Calendar Committee would like to know how well you think the current academic calendar is working and what changes (if any) you would like to see. Particular attention should be paid to (a) the structure of the final exam period, (b) the positioning of breaks in the Spring Semester, and (c) the possibility of starting and finishing the Spring Semester two weeks earlier and staging Commencement two weeks earlier. The Calendar Committee website has more details. You can communicate your thoughts to the Committee either by replying to this email or by posting comments on the website itself. We kindly ask that you respond no later than December 2. It is perfectly OK not to reply if you feel that the concerns of your office are amply reflected by the comments and talking points that have already been posted on the Calendar Committee website. Please share this email with your associates. |
