This month’s Senate meeting will be held 3:30-5:00 on December 13 in the Statler  Amphitheatre.

UFC Meeting Agenda

The Dec meeting will have Mike and Ryan on the housing project, there will be a carbon-offset presentation by Bob Howarth, and the Financial Policy Committee (FPC) Chair Rayna Kalaswill talk about fall semester activities.

Improving the  represesentation for NTT faculty and postdocs.

What we should do in the senate next semester once the CJC working group and the President’s  Task force get rolling on the free/hate speech + campus code issue.

UFC Meeting Minutes

Everyone agreed that the NTT faculty and post-docs need better representation at the assembly level. Some feeling that we have enough on our plate already without adding a new big project. However, the first step to take is just a mild probe of how members of these  constituencies feel. We’ll collect some information over the break and revisit in February.

There is real concern that there might be some kind of collision between the President Task Force () and the CJC’s working group on hate speech. Our plan is to have both groups give overviews in the Senate in early spring. We also should continue educating the faculty on the issues so that when things come  to a head in April/May we are ready to weigh in with intelligence.
